Edwina Y. Dortch, Vice President

Edwina Yvonne Dortch is currently the Vice President of The Diversa Group. In this capacity, she assists with the management of the Career Success Group, a division of the company. Her portfolio consists of business development and working to help clients in providing career success services, including Self-Assessment, Skills Assessment, Career Counseling / Coaching, Career Exploration, Job & Search Assistance, Targeted Self-Marketing Materials Development Assistance (Resumes, Federal Resumes, Cover Letters, Application Essays, Career Success Portfolios, etc.), Application Assistance, Interview Preparation, Dress for Success / Image Consulting and Career Success Seminars/Workshops and more.  As a Certified Career Development Coach, she is skilled in coaching, mentoring, consulting, and supporting clients in areas of self and professional development and performance practices from a holistic approach.

 

Ms. Dortch has extensive experience in talent acquisition and management through recruiting/hiring and managing over 1500 employees, conducting job analysis, developing position descriptions, conducting research, restructuring departments, improving performance, and job coaching. She is a subject matter expert on recruitment, hiring, performance improvement, and career issues. She has developed and conducted numerous career development, academic enhancement, and professional development seminars and workshops to help people succeed, including Writing an Effective Resume, Preparing for the Interview, Dressing for Success, and Effective Workplace Behavior. 

 

Before joining The Diversa Group, Ms. Dortch had 40 years of experience working in the Detroit Public School (DPS) System.  While at DPS, she had 19 years of successful experience working in human resources, talent management and acquisition, recruiting, career development, and student advising, student development, employee relations, recruitment, retention, employee development, benefits advisement, and handling confidential/sensitive matters with employees.

 

Working as a Program Supervisor and Senior HR Operations/Human Resources Manager at the Detroit Public School (DPS) System, she provided leadership in human resources, talent management, recruitment/talent acquisition, career and professional development, and employee counseling operations.  She provided senior leadership and coordination for human resource activities for the Detroit Public Schools (DPS). In her last role at DPS she advised Principals, Assistant Principals, and senior management on hiring, discharge, and termination issues. At DPS she managed human resource teams, the organization's budgets, and provided human resource and business assistance and solutions to internal and external customers. 

 

Ms. Dortch has certifications from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wayne State University.   She earned a certification in Human Resources from Eastern Michigan University. She is a member of the Detroit Association of Women’s Clubs Inc. (Lifting as We Climb), and the Detroit Junior League.  She has extensive experience working in financial, operations, and event management in the non-profit and faith-based sector as a senior leader at Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church.
